History
37 officers and 1,070 ratings served in the DEMS in WW2.
Of these some 208 signed up at either Port Melbourne (Lonsdale) or Williamstown. 375 Australian and Allied merchant ships were supplied or partly supplied with R.A.N. gunners.

Events
We are regularly represented at :-

APRIL
Waverly R.S.L. Service and March on the Sunday before ANZAC day. Followed by a light luncheon at the Waverley R.S.L.

Anzac Day. Melbourne March 25th April
Followed by a sausage sizzle and drinks at Melbourne Naval Centre, 146 Toorak Road West, South Yarra.

MAY
Battle of Coral Sea Memorial Service at The Shrine early May.
Check date in the calendar.  Tea and Coffee at the Shrine reception area afterwards.

OCTOBER
The Annual Seafarers Memorial Service. 10:30 a.m. at Saint Pauls Cathedral, Flinders Street, Melbourne. Wreath laying service at Shrine in afternoon. Mid October. See calendar for details.

NOVEMBER
H.M.A.S. Goorangai Memorial Service. Queenscliff On Sunday closest to 20th November. March then Luncheon at R.S.L. See  calendar  for full details.
Booking required for lunch.
